WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — A new report names 21st Century Insurance’s (NYSE:TW) Web site as the second best site among national auto insurers. The study, conducted by leading online financial services benchmarking firm Change Sciences Group based in White Plains, N.Y., ranks the customer experience of 24 leading auto insurance sites for key online activities, such as learning about coverage, getting a quote and purchasing a policy.
“A dramatic gap is opening up between carriers that get it and those that are still struggling to make it easy on consumers,” said Steve Ellis, a Change Sciences partner. “The 21st Century Insurance Web site is consistently good, which clearly means the people at 21st are working hard to make their site as good as it can be.”
Trends uncovered by the study include the following:
–Of sites, 80 percent offer an online rate quote but only 40 percent of sites allow a consumer to follow through on a quote and buy the policy online.
–Three sites currently allow consumers to compare their rates with other carriers. One makes it really easy to do so.
–Two sites are working to clearly communicate with prospects about how they handle claims.
“21st Century Insurance believes it’s simply a good business investment to focus on giving customers the tools they need to make shopping for insurance as easy as possible,” said John L. Ingersoll, Vice President, Marketing, 21st Century Insurance
